Litany of Humility

Here is a great prayer I recommend to all of you. It is a prayer for Humility that was composed by Cardinal Merry del Val. It is a prayer, that to say with conviction is difficult. I encourage all of you if possible to say this after Mass or after Holy Communion in your parishes. Yes! Not just you, but if possible, with your priest's approval have your entire parish say it! That would be wonderful. Tell me if it works!

O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.

From the desire of being esteemed, Deliver me, Jesus

From the desire of being loved,...

From the desire of being extolled,...

From the desire of being honored,...

From the desire of being praised,...

From the desire of being preferred to others,...

From the desire of being consulted,...

From the desire of being approved,.....

From the fear of being humiliated,....

From the fear of being despised,...

From the fear of suffering rebukes,...

From the fear of being calumniated,...

From the fear of being forgotten,...

From the fear of being ridiculed,...

From the fear of being wronged,...

From the fear of being suspected,...

That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

That in the opinion of the world others may increase and I may decrease,...

That others may be chosen and I set aside,...

That others may be praised and I unnoticed,...

That others may be preferred to me in everything,...

That others become holier than I , provided that I may become as holy as I should,....

Can evil be totally eliminated from the world?

Aren't the greatest enemies of God, those who use God for their own selfish gain?

Are you one of God's warriors? What does that mean? Fighting evil, spreading God's word?

Is it acceptable to kill other humans in order to spread God's word or to cease evil?

"Can evil be totally eliminated from the world?"
Answer: No, unfortunately not. Man has original sin and has a sinful nature. However, much evil will be eliminated if man repents of sin and comes back to God.

"Aren't the greatest enemies of God, those who use God for their own selfish gain?"
Answer: I am not sure exactly who the greatest enemies of God are, but people who use religion for their own selfish gain, are not true followers of Christ.

"Are you one of God's warriors?"
Answer: Yes.

"What does that mean? Fighting evil, spreading God's word?"
Answer: It means that I am trying to combat the world, the flesh, and the devil through the means of prayer, sacrifice, and the spreading of God's word through my example and word.

"Is it acceptable to kill other humans in order to spread God's word or to cease evil?"
Answer: The only situation in which it is right to kill would be in self-defense or in defense of another. This means that if someone had a gun up to my innocent friend's head, it would be Okay to use lethal force if there was no other way. However, spreading "God's Word" by killing people is never acceptable. True Christians don't kill to terrorize people into beliefs. The fifth commandment says Thou shalt not murder. That's pretty clear. Also, Jesus told us what the two most important commandments are in Matthew 22:37-40: "And he said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.'"

I hope I have clarified myself enough, but if you have further questions, please ask. Thanks for your comment, and God Bless!
